Compared to other cities in the US, Gilbert, Arizona is fairly young. It was established on July 6, 1920, but has experienced exponential growth since then. Despite its youth, the area of Gilbert, AZ has rich background and history. In fact, beginning in the early 1900’s, the area was known as “The Hay Capital of the World.” The town found its early beginnings in 1902, when the Arizona Eastern Railway asked for donations to found a rail line between Phoenix and Florence.
Gilbert, AZ is home to 250,000 residents and is one of the fastest growing communities in the nation. In 2014, Time Inc.’s Money magazine ranked Gilbert the best place to live in Arizona and the 22nd-best place to live in America. The study evaluated all 781 cities with populations between 50,000 and 300,000, analyzing factors like jobs, housing, education and health care and Gilbert was the only Arizona municipality in the top 50. Gilbert is an ideal place for home ownership or investment, and you can trust your Gilbert Property Management experts to take care of all your property management needs.
Later, a rail siding was established on land owned by William “Bobby” Gilbert, causing a town to grow around it. As the years passed, the area became known as a prominent farming community, earning it its name of “Hay Capital.” However, it wasn’t until the 1970s that Gilbert began to take the look and shape of the town you know and love today. Many might think a slow-paced area with a small-town feel wouldn’t be that interesting, but Gilbert, AZ begs to differ. Some of what make it unique is certainly what makes it interesting. Perhaps the most interesting fact about Gilbert is that though it feels small and slow, it was and has been one of the fastest growing areas in the US. Despite its impressive growth patterns, Gilbert AZ has never actually changed its designation from town to city, making it one of the biggest towns in the nation.
