What are Core Values?

Core values are not descriptions of the work we do or the strategies we employ to accomplish our mission. The values underlie our work, how we interact with each other, and which strategies we employ to fulfill our mission. The core values are the basic elements of how we go about our work. Core values are what shape the culture, support the vision, and reflect what the company values. They are the essence of the company’s identity – the principles that guide our behavior and action.

How did we find the Core Values of our company?

Many companies make the mistake of determining what they want their core values to be.  Pick them out of thin air and try to fit them into their organization; core values are not “one size fits all” or the “best practices” in the industry.  Core values are predisposed to your employees. You cannot “install” the core values into people.  So…we asked our employees to list what they think the culture of the organization was and together turned our culture into a list of our core values.  They are the practices we use everyday in everything we do.

Know Your Hero

Every day we encounter different heroes depending on the situation we are part of. Do not lose sight of who your hero is. This is the person that deserves your attention, commitment and top-of-the-line customer service. If it is important to them, it is important to us.

Change is inevitable; embrace and even drive change. What is right, right now, might not be right tomorrow. Learn and grow from each decision. Change is progress.

Wear flip flops, challenge the norm, dare to do it different. We are here to be authentic, honest and forward thinking. The past is a lesson to us, not a roadmap.

Be Humble. Sometimes, you are going to be 100% right and it still will not be enough. Being right is not always what is most important. It is essential to show respect and humility to your hero in all situations.
